What does everyone have on their garage floor?
Been looking at rubber/PVC tiles to add a bit of insulation to my cold painted concrete floor, wondered if its worth it or more hassle than they're worth.

Mike,
I have used Ecotile 500mm x 500mm 7mm PVC tile in a couple of garages now and am, very pleased, easy to lay, clean and look after. I have used both the dimpled and smooth texture surface (prefer the latter as it is easier to clean) Oil spills wipe! up no problem. It also required very little floor preparation. (I did a brush-up and then a quick coat of dilute PVC to stop any dust). The tiles were then laid on top.
They do provide a useful insulation from the floor which is great if you are lying under the car!!
Downsides; they do not work as well if in direct sunlight - they expand, and I know the manufacturer states to leave an edge gap but this isn't enough and they try to buckle. My current garage door faces north so not an issue. The only other issue of note is to avoid sharp, heavy objects, such as axle stands which stand on the two points of the angle iron at each leg - they will leave a dent! - the ones with the flat feet are OK.
Deals are available!

There is a very good reason why garages use painted concrete, and that is that you can wipe up spills from it easily. I have tarmac in mine and it has started to dissolved under the rear of the engine and under the diff! If you want something warm to lie or kneel on, then the pieces of foam that you can buy at car shows work well and add a bit of padding for you knees etc.
Cheers R.

I've got epoxy sealed concrete and use various mats to kneel/ lie on. I'm often welding/cutting, so many floor coatings would be unsuitable

I designed my new garage/race shop with radiant in floor heat and finish the concrete slab with a penetrating densifying product that looks natural and resist stains and solvent penetration.
