From looking at the overall results Big Healeys did rather well in their category and class, despite a few set-backs along the way ...... ...... after the Le Mans start, 54FAC had to quit after 1 lap and return to the pit box because of an engine problem. and as for DD300, well ..... However, despite this she did go on to some pretty good results. Not sure of the background, but as you can see from some of the comments, foam air filters are coming in for a bit of scrutiny!

Wow, thanks for the update. Anyone at Goodwood this weekend. It's been 15 years since I was at the Festival of Speed. Way to long not to be back!

Not for me. I prefer the Great Dorset Steamfair (and Beaulieu Autojumble). Much better and "down to earth". I also do not have the right clothes and attitude for Goodwood. I hate military (Or shall I come in German WW2 Bomber Command Uniform?).

Josef, you may be getting the Festival of Speed mixed up with the Goodwood Revival, which is later in the year (and yes does dress in period costume - not necessarily military).
I agree it may not be as "down to earth" but as we no longer have a UK Motorshow, such as Earls Court in past times, the Goodwood FOS has somewhat taken its place, hence the mix of old, new and unusual!

Sorry bbh Goodwood, Mille Miglia, Classic Le Mans is nothing I fancy. Have seen all of them once, first time and last time.
Meanwhile European Healey Events like the one in Rust this year are of the same category. They just take your best, your money (plenty) and what you get for it is just glamour and you are seen with the Rich and Glamourous.

Jose - If you ever travel to the west coast USA, stay away from the The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, you wouldn't like it either to, much too highfalutin for you taste. For the rest of you car lovers, it's not to be missed..... Attachments:

Goodwood was wonderful in the early years but the numbers are too great to make it enjoyable. I know a bit about the financial side having shown the Goddess there in 2014. At the time they needed to make tens of millions just to break even. Each year it gets more and more commercial and the garden party atmosphere of days gone by has unsurprisingly disappeared. The traffic, the cost, the crowds, the British weather all make it a non-no for me now. However I've been to Goodwood three times this year for private events and it's still wonderful on a small scale. These days I tend to do events like Crystal Palace, Jersey Festival and the Malta Classic, all organised by the local clubs, having plenty of atmosphere, low(ish) cost and generally the super-rich stay away. We did have a guy last year in Malta with his own classic F1 team and he brought 'only' 4 cars but he's not back in 2018 so I will probably enjoy it more this year.

I hate military (Or shall I come in German WW2 Bomber Command Uniform?). And why not? We're all friends now. Each year our sh1tty little blue 2CV gets invited to a Concours D'Elegance in Malta as a counterpoint to all the very shiny and korrekt cars being shown there. We always do a French theme and last year it was Tintin at the Malta Classic. The organisers and the tourists and the local Maltese love it. Of course my daughter then races it over the race weekend This year we're doing 'Allo, 'Allo, a much-loved British TV comedy based in early 1940's France and if you have a German wartime uniform and the airfare you'd be most welcome to join the team

I can say for me I never ever wear a wartime uniform or any other kind of uniform.
