Anyone got an idea how much an Austin Healey fully working 26D engine, complete with all ancillaries as removed from the car would be worth ?
Has good oil pressure hot or cold, doesn't overheat, not burning oil, has the usual oil leaks, mileage on the car 28000 but that is not a guarantee of the miles on the engine.
Its my engine but being replaced with a 29D uprated unit, was going to store the 26D engine but having second thoughts as to wether its worth keeping.

Its always worth to keep, as its the original engine to the car. Car is no more worth as it was when these parts are gone. Value of the car is considerably going down when you do not have the original parts when it comes to a sale. 29D engine isnĀ“t the engine many are looking for when buying a 100/6.

Thanks 'josefeckert' for the reply, you are writing exactly my thoughts, hence the initial idea of storing the original engine.

Its coming along, the engine I obtained which was rebuilt in 1973 and never run since has been completely striped. The block is getting dipped, valve pockets cut, new camshaft bearings along with a DWR8 camshaft, new crankshaft and cylinder head competition nuts and studs, high capacity oil pump, vernier cam wheel, balanced lightened flywheel and clutch cover and aluminium sump.
The rest of the internal parts, bearings, pistons, rings, gudgeon pins etc are all new and unused from its rebuild in 1973. Then I will take a break to recover the bank balance, round two will be a DWR fast road alloy head with a DWR tubular side exit exhaust system, the carbs will be triple HD6's mounted on my find of the year original right hand drive car Ruddspeed manifolds with a Ruddspeed rocker cover to give it that period look.

Excellent, good find on the Ruddspeed parts.
Your build sounds very similar to mine, I also have stayed with the iron head at the moment, albeit had it ported and polished, however long term an al head may be in the picture, but other things needed first!

I race with a well ported iron 100-6 MM head and Ruddspeed triple SU HD8 set-up. I running the AH Spares/Sideways Engineering "E" Class race cam specifically design for SU's
