Just back from a rallye in a pal's BT7. He was talking about having overdrive on 2nd gear. Any thoughts. Is it easy to achieve ?

I believe you can have overdrive on any gear by disabling the cut-out BUT the overdrive clutch was never designed to take the torque of the lower gearsb Better he fits a 5 or 6 speed box with better ratios. Nice to see you're still around mon ami!

...or if he really wants to keep his original set-up, what about changing the gears to the Tulip or Sebring ratio's. Looking at the ratios chart on the Healeysix site, www.healeysix.net/Gearratios.htm you can clearly see the large gap between 2nd and 3rd on the standard rations - hence I guess the question about o/d 2nd to act as a bridge. However the Tulip set-up could help with this.

Wonderful picture. What rearend gears are installed. I have a set of ring and pinion 4.8:1, perfect for rallying for available.

Thanks for the replies. I imagine that the axle has the standard ratios.
