i got a phone call from a pal “ I’ve got someone here who wants to get rid of an old Sprite “ so of course I agree to go and see it. The shipping container it’s in is nearly in a state of collapse, bits of the roof rusted out, and inside is this poor thing. He asked me what I thought it was worth, so I told him ( not a lot ! ) and that I wasn’t interested, but would pass details along. we then chatted for a half hour, then I made to go home. He then said he would accept my valuation, and indeed , include a rough car transporter trailer to get it home for a nominal sum ! What’s a boy to do ? so, next week, I’m going to collect possibly the rustiest Sprite known to mankind, to either sell on on break for bits 🤣 Just to add to the fun, I had a total knee replacement 8 weeks ago, so mobility ( and motivation) aren’t exactly at their best. My wife just rolls her eyes, of course Neil

You're mad. Breaking and selling car/bike parts is now like entering one of the higher circles of hell. Cockwomble demons will torture you until you wish you'd never have started it.

I reckon it’ll self dismantle by the time it’s home anyway !

I’ve never had any bad experiences selling old bits of car. Quite the opposite in fact. Last breaker was the Midget I’d got to provide bits for my imported Frogeye, so about 4 years ago. Most difficult bit was figuring out a fair price when it was for pals !

well, its home now, and even worse than I thought ! The trailer though is much better than expected. Now I’ll need to find storage for it !

well, its home now, and even worse than I thought ! I love that it is so structurally fragile that you thought it was wise to use a net to stop disintegration on the homeward journey.

Nah, that was to stop the goodness escaping. To get it out from it’s container, which was a bit rough ! The owner put two straps under the car, and lifted with a JCB. I’m amazed it didn’t just bend in two

Not sure which is in a worse state, container or sprite, or which will self implode first!

Now you've got to restore it

First photo looks like it is also the last resting place of The Terminator!
That has even more rampant tinworm than my frogeye did before restoration.

Well Chaps. I’m Spriteless again. The square one got recycled in flatpack form Did ok, other than Yodel managing to lose a rocker cover, and the Frogeye went south today to its new owner. Whats next !
