Can´t help you with amber ones as those are stardust. In the Concours community there are people who know where to get them, but they usually only pass from friend to friend.

Looking through some books (Clausager, Piggott , Anderson & Moment) they all refer to the covers being in clear, amber or red. The Piggott book refers to the colour being dependant upon market, but doesn't say which for each colour. The others don't mention this distinction. Perhaps Josef has sone info on this. If you wanted to be UK specific, then is it one specific colour for the UK market, or did the factory just fit what was available?

My understanding was they only fitted the orange ones to the BN6 for a period of approx one year there after they reverted to the standard flat red ones as per the 3000 Healeys.

As far as I know they were amber (faded to clear) on most BN4s and BN6s. Early in 1959 (or very late in 58) the colour was changed to red for all 100/6s BN4s and BN6s.

Thats my understanding, my car is a December 1958 BN6 100/6 being in the last 400 BN6's built so guessing it should have the amber ones. However at some point in its life they have been replaced for the flat red ones.

My 1959 BN4 came with amber cones. After 45 years they are cracked and faded so in the interests of aesthetics I replaced them with red cones but have yet to find any amber ones and have never seen clear, ever! My Healey was built in April, 1959 at Abbingdon. It was shipped to Jacksonville Florida and currently has Canadian citizenship. Would love to find amber for sure.

Thank you BBH, indeed I was directed to those items at SC Parts sometime ago and went ahead and bought the red cones.
