Could anyone tell me were I could view historical records for Austin Healey's built at Abington, I have a heritage certificate for my car but if possible would like to try and find out more about the car if such records are still kept.

I searched the records at Gaydon several times. All they have at the BMIHT archive is what they put on the Heritage Certificate. They do not have any more information to a specific car. The only way I see is going back from owner to owner. As two of my cars are from the US I wasn´t really successful when I tried it. Even my Sprite, which was delivered to Germany, already had 12 owners prior to me and the car was just 19 years old when I bought it.

When its an American export forget your search. No chance to get any information. Depending on the state they only keep records for a few years.

It is possible there is some registry information of prior owners if in USA. www.healeyclub.org/car-registries but you may have to register or to send an e-mail explaining your request. As a second option, but I haven't dealt with them and don't know the people involved: www.healeydata.com/

In my case they were able to call up the microfiche/film of the factory record which had a hand-written annotation of what looked like an original registration number. In fact that number was never issued, but my point is that other info can appear.

Sorry about the delay as I just dip in here occasionally now. When I got my Heritage certificate I spoke to someone and asked what else there was. I got a photocopy of the daily journal with a list of the cars produced, including mine, and also a separate sheet with special details as the car was for export.

I sent an email to the Healey Club USA via the link supplied by 'wilburbub' above within an hour of receiving the link, so nearly 3 weeks ago, sadly they haven't bothered to even acknowledge my email.

On the old forum a few years ago, I asked if there was any way that I could confirm that my 100 was registered in England prior to its private export to Australia. Since then I have been in touch with a nice, and very helpful lady who is a volunteer at the Warwick County Records Office. She provided my with heaps of information that the Records Office still holds from the fifties. If your car was privately exported that might be a useful place to start.
