Some pictures may help your sale Its still on the engine I bought, not had time to remove it yet, will try and get some pictures tomorrow but its in excellent condition. I won't need the old head as I am going to upgrade the engine to a road fast version and keep the cars original as a spare, but of course selling the old head to help fund the upgrade.

G'day BN6, if the head has the integral inlet manifold it will not be a 3000 engine. That type of head was only used on the early Longbridge 100-Six. Later cars, including all the 3000s had the six-port head which was unique to the Austin-Healeys. Other BMC cars with C-Series engines stayed with the "log" manifold head.

Hi 'pan' I do mean the log type manifold which to me means integral rather than removable, the engine is definitely a 2.9/3000 unit it came from a 6/99 wolseley and is confirmed by its serial number and the original car logbook. Apart from the head and carbs the rest of the engine is same as the Healey 3000, camshaft wise it doesn't matter as the engine is being rebuilt to a road fast version, with a new cam, being balanced, lightened, gas flowed and fitted with a pair of HD8 carbs. So this head should make a decent spare for someone with the earlier style engine.

Not quite the same engine, but easily fixed. The rear plate and oil filter are different, front pulley and dynamo bracket sometimes different. The important bits - block, crank and rods are the same, so it's a good basis for an improved engine and of course, being in a Westie, it won't have been thrashed and the sump should be straight. Win win and if your donor had been an auto, you'd have got a 3.54 diff too
