Has any-one had any experience of using either Camcoat or Zircotec for ceramic coating of exhaust manifold / headers?
Part 2 .... did you coat both internally and externally?

I got the Sunbeam headers zircotec coated on the outside only ( that was dear enough - cost more than the headers from memory) it seems to work well. Both my starter motor and clutch release are perilously close to the headers, and all is ok so far. I was surprised though at how fragile it is. It does seem to scrape off rather easily. I had imagined it would be something like the vitreous enamelling on Jaguar manifolds. It not, it's more like paint

Thanks for the feedback. I know that the coating is thin, but I did think that it was pretty robust, sounds like it isn't.
..... The good news though is that it does appear to work.

Well I went ahead with the ceramic coating on the DWM headers. .. you were right though on price - let's hope it lasts. I used Camcoat in Warrington as they were closest (I could drop off and pick-up) and also Zircotec are out of production at the moment after the fire they had last year and having to move premises. Coated in black inside and out. Interestingly the inside coating leaves a much smoother finish.

I've used the thin film ceramic coating on my old race headers, never lasted more than 2 seasons. I probably had it re-applied 3-4 times over 15 years. When I up-graded to a new full stainless race header system I sourced a much thicker ceramic coating for maximum protection and durability. www.jet-hot.com/thermal-barrierThree seasons in, they still look and function like new.

At the cost I am hoping that I will get more than a couple of years out of them ...... time will tell!

At the cost I am hoping that I will get more than a couple of years out of them ...... time will tell! Thankfully, I'm in the coatings business and was able to surface blast and apply the past ceramic coatings "in house". The new Jet Hot system was sent out for application and it's been much better. www.cerakote.com/finishes/C-102Q/graphite-black/
