Another example of woeful sizing of reproduction parts. ... In this instance front hub grease caps - yes the ones which are a pain in the a**e to remove. Below are a couple of pics of the original (right) side by side with a reproduction model (left) .... Now as I bought new hubs and the grease caps from the same vendor, you would have thought that they could size them to fit. As you can see not even close.....

I started to fit new rear brake slave cylinders ( or whatever we call them now ) Would not move at all. Apart from removing the paint where they go, I noticed this the new spring plate is much thicker - about 25 thou- than the original. Even changing that it was still too tight. I ended up very carefully filing the sliding surface of the cylinder to make it smoother and also filing the groove where the spring clips fit to achieve a satisfactory fit

It's all made in China/Far East Unfortunately yes, but that is no excuse for lack of basic quality control by the parts suppliers. I have taken to sending some parts back when the quality is just not right, unfortunately in some cases, it is all there is and you are left with no option but to make it fit!

Yep, just been fitting two new king pins and assoc parts plus new hubs.
bearings on one side over tight on the stub axle, struggle to get the hub on which makes it worse getting the spacers on.
on the other side, the disc is now catching locked solid against the brake calliper bracket.
and it’s not as though the prices are cheap.
well out with the grinder tomorrow to modify the bracket!
quality control? Problem is, we all accept and event the restorers spend time to make them worK!
why?
